Description
We are looking for an experienced accounting professional with at least 4 years of non-profit accounting experience. This individual would undertake all aspects of financial management, including accounting, banking, tax, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and the development of internal control policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will be strategic and tactical, detail-oriented, and mission-driven with a desire for career advancement.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accounts Payable
• Collate vendor invoices into weekly and monthly payment runs, streamlining payment processes wherever possible
• Ensure all vendor bills are appropriately authorized for payment, and process payments when authorized.
• Record vendor payments and offices expenses in accounting software, coding to appropriate accounts.

Accounts Receivable
• Invoice all customers on a timely basis, filing copies as per documented procedures
• Record customer payments accurately
• Run A/R aging reports
• As directed by the CFO, ensure account statements are sent monthly to clients with outstanding balances.
• Follow-up overdue accounts via phone, letter and email. Document all account chasing activities using NetSuite functionality.

Budget and Financial Statements
• Verify and validate financial data and timely creation of periodic financial reports & statements
• Assist in preparing annual budgets
• Assist in preparing project and grant budgets
• Make end-of-month journal entries as required
• Provide additional reports to partners and funders as required

Payroll Management
• Maintain confidential records for all employees, including employment declarations and tax file numbers
• Allocate time reports to appropriate projects and grants

General
• Improve accounting practices and processes as needed.
• Make daily deposits
• Manage purchase order processing – review for budget compliance, verify vendor invoice, investigate variances
• Complete credit card and bank reconciliations
• Prepare and maintain monthly general ledger account reconciliations and journal entries
• Complete month-end close process
• Create monthly income statements and balance sheets
• Assist the CFO with year-end close process, financials statements and audit
• Prepare annual 1099 statements
• Prepare various tax calculations and reports
• Create and maintain accurate accounting files

Skills
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or equivalent business experience
• Preference will be given to candidates with a MBA or a CPA/CMA designation.
• Minimum of 4 years of Non-profit accounting experience including 990’s, OMB A-133, grant compliance
• Accounting software experience, preferably with NetSuite or similar systems
• Project Management software & HRIS experience.
• Human Resource/IT/Facilities practices experience preferred
